Adobe Bridge: yay or nay

Yay or nay? To use or not to use? Adobe Bridge is a very powerful software, describe as easy-to-use media manager for visual people, it is a bridge used to transfer a huge amount of files to the other spot or program quickly. Adobe Br offers more capabilities to manage files, but it is not a replacement; for example, for Finder or Windows Explorer, rather Adobe Br is the enhancement for both. With the use of Adobe br your files will be more organized, if and only if you find it helpful, try to play with it then start to explore it further.

Working with adobe bridge will need a lot of ram and space from your desktop computer or laptop. Some find it very helpful and efficient especially for those who work everyday with hundreds and hundreds of files to handle. Also, can be much more useful in photography where photographers make tons of photos and they have to track them down, that's when Adobe Br can help. It may be very useful but for some it can be annoying because it costs a lot of your laptop or computer's memory. My advice or my point is if we will work or you're working with a big project and if you have a high end laptop or computer, YAY for Adobe Bridge, but for those people (I think, for me too) who doesn't have big project to do, who have less files, not enough ram and space for Adobe Br, NAY.  We/They should stick to traditional way (File > Open > Location) of managing of files, sometimes we're having a hard time finding our files, opening and transferring files in "mano-mano" way, but that's pretty normal.

To sum it up, using Adobe Bridge depends on the situation, depends on the laptop/computer's status, and it depends on the decision of the user.

The Influence of Advertising

Advertising is simply informing people and consumers about a certain product. Buyers will eventually buy something that they know exists based on what they saw on newspapers, television or on billboards. With the use of advertising, there is a creation of an ideal image of gorgeous woman and handsome men that shows the factors of successful person that leads to an unconscious way of telling that if they don't become like them they would not be good looking or pretty.

“It is time to buy what makes you look good, and soon you will look like one of your favorite star celebrities.”

Today's era is a world of advertisement, the loudest you are in the media industry the most noticeable you will. There are all kinds of ads, but in general, all of them aim to make your buying choices based on emotional response. Talking about the repetition of different advertisements, it makes it easy for viewers to accept them as the truth, even when they "know" the messages are false; and because it works, companies behind the ads are willing to pay for the repetition of their ads. Another is the use of experts, it is difficult for the viewers to disagree because they don;t have the knowledge and information available to those experts. People assumed that if these people are doing such work then it must be valid information.

These are just a few of the ways in which advertising influence our decisions and perception. We should have an awareness of ourselves that gives us the satisfaction of knowing that we're making our own decisions.

Impact of Advertising to society: Pros & Cons

When we hear the word advertising, people come up with the idea of communication in a way that it encourage, persuade or manipulate the target audience. Advertising messages are usually paid for by sponsors and viewed by old or new media. Its purpose is to convince their customers that their company's services and products are the best.

Advertising can be found in everywhere; television, internet, magazines, billboards, newspapers, radio etc. Basically, all these promotional medium aim to inform people, audiences or consumers about a certain product. Also, it's a way to communicate and to deliver the message to the society. Advertising has its positive and negative effects to the society, to the people who used to see and to hear it everyday. Although people focus on the negative effects of advertising, it is also important to know its positive side. Through advertising, company encourage to compete and provide new products and services, that eventually will encourage the consumers to buy for their needs and wants. Advertising helps people in their everyday life, they won't have to go out of their houses just to buy a product when it's possible to have it at the moment, because certain brands can be out there on the table and the choice will just depend on the consumer. In addition, all we have to do is to watch, read and listen to various advertisements around us, then the decision whether to buy this or that. Aside from all the possible positive effects of advertising it also has its negative impacts on our society. One negative effect people can think of about advertising is that it takes money; purchased online advertising, print ads in a newspapers and magazines, and even commercials on the radio costs money. Another thing, is what we call misinterpretation, advertising aims to present their product, yet some people would not believe and most says "That's just dramatization, of course." Another negative effect is the unrealistic expectations about the effectiveness of a drug or any other products and their side-effects. Advertisers can lie to their customers , that they can bend and break the truth for their own benefit, for them to promote and advertise their product.,

There will be more and more pros and cons about advertising, and I'm not really sure if this as a whole is good or bad. For me, it's a very powerful tool that can be used to widen our mind on some things we weren't aware of and it can provide us information but advertising can also make people feel worse about themselves and also can be deceiving. Remember that advertisement can create contentment but can also create people's discontentment.

Interview experience

I am Ena Christine Oracion, one of the members of Barcode Productions; I am in charge in cinematography and research. I also work as the text editor and as one of the videographer. For our Multimedia Arts Business, Advertising and Marketing subject we were given a project about interviewing a company or anyone related in the industry of multi-media that will serve as our preliminary examination. After sending letter of requests to Team Manila, Glass House Graphics, PASI (Philippine Animation studio Inc.) etc unfortunately due to not replying to our letter or they can’t grant our time and date, we need to find another interviewee. Our production didn’t want to rush things up but we need to allot more time for our editor and for us to finish our documentary on time, since our creative director were very fortunate for having C-Site recording studio in San Pablo, Laguna as our interviewee, they told that we can have it on the date we want to have the interview. We start to plan everything from the questions, what will be the flow of the interview, camera angles, and token for the interviewee…etc

It was a great start, learning and knowing that we must be considerate of other people, managing the time well, cooperation is way important in a group project, I learned to share my ideas, how to communicate well and also to adapt. Challenges that I and our production encounter, one was finding an interviewee and be able to contact them and to both meet our convenient date and time. I know that in this kind of industry people were too busy doing their respective jobs, so maybe granting our request will not going to be easy but at least as a result of all the hardships of communicating and sending those request letters we still end in a recording studio that will help us to have the information we need for this project. While we’re having the interview, I also learned a lot from my co-members, how attitude and behavior we should observe for us to have a peaceful and at the same time informative interview. I enjoy this project a lot, like a lot. I think it’s also because I’m very comfortable with the other members of this production and the interviewee as well. For me, once you feel comfortable with the company of the others the rest will follow, and it’s true, as a result they gave us all the information we need for building this documentary. I also gained confidence, values, and of course the most important, knowledge especially about working in this kind of industry.

Our production did not just a good but a great job for this short interview documentary, each member contribute to the overall content and output of this project, tasks we’re perfectly distributed, and we finished everything on time. It’s just a relieving feeling for me, I think. I would say this shall end here; for the overall, for me, it was a pleasant and knowledgeable experience for a multi-media student.

Multimedia: emergence and development

In the Philippines multimedia industry  is continuously developing, growing and innovating. We can say that there are a lot of changes that occurred from time to time. In fact, we never observe it, it's because people were too busy blending and breaking the rules and the trends, not knowing that those were already the changes.

Through time, multimedia in the Philippines were expanding, from those radio and moving objects in your black and white television, now we can say that there are new technological advances. As of now we encounter huge changes, there are a lot of new multimedia company with their multimedia artists, more and more animation, recording, graphic studio, etc.

To be more specific about all these development, right from the start everything was so simple but as time goes by huge changes enter our industry. Yes, there were newspapers, billboards, magazines etc at that time, but when new technology of more enhanced printing machines and devices from our black and white canvas it was filled with colors and it became more visual appealing to people. Another thing, is the telecommunication, when mobile phones were introduced in our country there were a lot of networks that let us call, text and even surf through the internet using different enhanced phone units. Then internet came, whereas it played a big role in the multimedia industry which changed our lives into unique and simple ways. All of these changes will continue to develop and grow, we may not observe and know it as it is but people should really know that working in this kind of industry will help not only their own career but also for the benefit of our country. Filipinos' skills and talent, attitude and behavior were also developing, I mean in a positive way, as multimedia industry were innovating people working on it will also aspire for more and more changes.

Multimedia is everywhere, widely used at home, school, for political use and most especially in businesses. Multimedia industry will continue to develop, grow, expand, and innovate that maybe in the near future will help the Philippines, the world.

Creative Transition Inc.

If I were to have my own business in the near future I would like to enter the industry of multi-media, and I would name it "Creative Transition." The business of creation is one of the hardest industries to work with because you have to bend and break the rules, in the world of artists, you should create something unique and appealing. People are never contented with what they accomplish they always strive and aspire for more. I believe that there's always room for improvement.

I named it creative transition because for me there's always a perfect time to redefine and reinvent ourselves. Transition from when we can take down those regrets and mistakes and transform them into meaningful and improved outcome. I will apply this thinking to my business that I'll make sure not only my products would improve every now and then but also the skills and behavior of my employees. Where as everyone will essentially improve our current version of ourselves.

My business would probably offer the following:
  • Graphic designs for
    • Shirt designs
    • Logo designs
    • Magazines
    • website layout
    • Illustration
  • Photography and Cinematography
  • Video editing and Project conceptualization
  • Advertising Marketing
Given the amount of time, money and effort my business would be successful, first thing is to do what I enjoy, take it seriously, proper planning would help, finance managing, promote a positive business image, get to know not just your employees but also your customers and clients, be competitive, right business strategy, proper attitude, behavior and discipline, my company should take risks, and to work and live in a balance life.

Maybe as of now there are a lot of field of multi-media I want to enter and to explore with, but someday I would make my decision firm and final. For now plans will be plans, I'll start from taking opportunities and trying to make right decisions not just for the benefit of myself but also for the others. I would make sure that my business will be successful and all my hard work will pay off.

CREATIVE TRANSITION AT YOUR SERVICE :)

State of the Philippines' Multimedia Industry

Good day. Before I proceed to the main part of this essay, there's something I would like to share that caught my attention while scrolling my tumblr feed a month ago...
"You get home from a long day at work and turn on the TV. It’s been a long week, so you think to yourself maybe I’ll take the family to a movie on Saturday. Maybe we’ll even go on a vacation soon! We could visit museums and go to plays and see all sorts of fun attractions.

When you turned the TV on, nothing happened. There are no actors to entertain you. When you went to the movie theater, nothing was showing. There were no advertisements to tell you that anything was showing, so you went to the theater to find out. Nothing playing. There is no one to film and create movies for you. Well at least your vacation will be fun, right? Not like there will be any plays to see and there won’t be anything in the art museums. Well at least you have the shack you are living in that you made out of cardboard and sheets.

Not like you could find an architect to build you a house with all the money you’re making as an engineer."
- I guess, you get the point :) so without further ado let's move on to the main thought, here it goes.

In the Philippines year 1994, the introduction of the internet in our country change in our way of life in many different aspects. Changes that we encounter everyday. The technological evolution of our country opens so many opportunities that can enhance every Filipinos' skills that can lead them to be known all over the World. Aside from experiencing changes through the internet, another industry opens more chances and with its continuous growth, Philippines emerges the Multimedia Industry.

One of the fast growing and expanding industry in the Philippines is the media industry. It also takes the function of entertainment that is filled with celebrities from television, cinema and the music scene. It is not only for celebrities, Multimedia industry also pertain to Advertising, Broadcasting, Cable television and Publishing companies. That is why Digital art skills is a huge demand for huge businesses that is committed to excellence and quality. Multimedia in the Philippines involves working with computer-generated design element to produce a form of digital media. Having a good market for all multimedia practitioners in our country there are a lot of opportunities for them to have that may include motion graphics, incorporating text and video, visual effects, web and graphic design and also sound production. Most of the youth were interested with all these technological advances that Filipinos foresee the future of this growing business especially for those people working through art for a long time.

Colleges and Universities in our country play a big part for the growing industry of Multimedia Artists that can enhance multimedia’s ideas, concepts, designs, logo designs, and other productions. As of now there are a lot of Media companies in our country, to name a few, ABS-CBN Corporation, GMA Network Inc, Viva Entertainment, Solar T.V. network, Radio Corporation of the Philippines, etc. Filipinos were very creative and talented, they uses internet to share their works of art, an example are the viral songs of Jireh Lim, the published book of Marcelo Santos III, doodle art of Lei Melendres, an independent multimedia artist, Arielle Cruz, all the great Filipino freelancer, photographer, graphic and web designer and even film directors out there and more proud and known Filipinos artist which has a great impact in our country's multimedia industry.

To sum it up, for me, the state of our country with regards to multimedia industry, it's improving and I can envision that in the near future this industry will help the Philippines' economy.
